The management objective of Farming God's Way is to progress into sustainable profitability. Sustainable profitability is when farmers can make profits throughout their lifetimes, and be able to pass their profitable farm businesses down to the next generations.
Improved profitability is achieved by reducing costs, increasing income and spreading risk, with sustainability brought about through care.
Profitability - There are many areas where there are substantial cost saving with Farming God’s Way, including not ploughing, input types, input placement, ph correction, weeding, fertilisation, OPV seed and pest control. The improvement of yields and the spreading of risk through rotation planning substantially increases our income.
Sustainability – by following the Farming God's Way guidelines we can truly care for the resources that God has given to us including soil, moisture, nutrients and time.
The management keys of Farming God’s Way are doing things on time, to high standards, with minimal wastage and with the Fruit of the Spirit
Key 1: On Time
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything appropriate in its time.”
• Gen 1:14-19 God’s creation in the beginning gives us the platform from which we determine time. God created the days, months, years and seasons.
• Land preparation in the off season - Collecting manure, God’s Blanket and seed. Making compost well in advance of the planting season.
• Planting on time – in Southern African summer rainfall region you lose 120kg yield per day planted after 25th November (provided rains have come).
• On time - supplementary blanket; weeding; thinning; top dressing; sowing cover crops; harvest; post-harvest stalk lodging.
