Moja was founded to address pressing needs in Africa, where millions aspire to achieve economic independence and entrepreneurship. This digital platform is uniquely focused on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs, who are often marginalized. Moja’s innovative, mobile-focused platform is designed to empower these underserved communities through comprehensive e- learning and e-trade tools, helping them thrive in the digital economy.

Africa’s SMEs, comprising small businesses and smallholder farmers, represent a vast yet underserved market. Agriculture is the backbone of the continent’s economy, with 60% of Africa’s 1.3 billion population engaged in smallholder farming. This sector not only sustains livelihoods but is critical to addressing food security, which remains a pressing challenge affecting 25% of the population.

Empowering agripreneurs—entrepreneurial farmers—through climate-smart agriculture practices is essential to improving food production resilience, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and unlocking sustainable economic growth. By fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture, Moja can directly impact food security while also driving significant job creation in rural and urban areas.

Moja is more than a platform—it is a complete ecosystem built to empower entrepreneurs and agripreneurs at every stage of their journey. Through its seamless digital platform, Moja provides essential tools and services, including training via both this website as well as its advanced Moja Academy LMS, a business accelerator to guide value-chain development, and tools for establishing branded storefronts for online sales.

After completing successful Marketplace/E-commerce pilots in Ghana and Zambia, our attention has turned towards building out Moja Academy and building out our local partnerships in Southern Africa.
