Handbook For Sustainable Coffee Production in Malawi
This handbook has been developed collaboratively by drawing on both Malawi-specific and international expertise. It was led by Imani Development and the Coffee Association of Malawi (CAMAL) through the Trading with Climate Smart Supply (TraCSS) project. Our thanks go to the lead funder of this project, the Scottish Government, which stands in partnership with the Government of Malawi under their Co-operation Agreement, and to the CAMAL members who kindly gave time and expert inputs during its development, particularly Robin Saunders, Alexander Cathcart-Kay, Navin Kumar and Bernard Kaunda, who participated throughout.
Sincere thanks also go to the following contributors for their time and expertise: Richard Clowes, who edited the final version; John Thompson of Coffee Nexus who advised extensively on Malawian coffee production and international good practice and contributed to chapters as well as Andrew Arnott of Green Energy Partners, Akeel Hajat of C12 Consultants and Will Garrett according to their respective expertise; The Lorna Young Foundation and Bioclimate, who developed the original Good Coffee Management materials with Kenyan illustrator Elijah Njoroge; the Tea Research Foundation of Central Africa (TRFCA), which developed a previous manual and allowed the use of some materials here; and Traidcraft, who contributed funding support as part of their mission towards integrated, sustainable economic development.
Photographs were kindly provided by Karen Smith, John Thompson, Robin Saunders, and Iain Gatward; or from online sources in accordance with reuse policies.
