3. Malawi Vision 2063

The Malawi Vision 2063 (MW2063) is Malawi’s long-term national development blueprint aimed at transforming the country into an inclusively wealthy and self-reliant nation by the year 2063. Developed through broad-based citizen consultations, MW2063 replaces Vision 2020 and charts a course for sustainable and inclusive development anchored in three interlinked pillars: Agricultural Productivity and Commercialization, Industrialization, and Urbanization.

The Vision prioritizes the development of human capital, strong governance systems, a globally competitive mindset, and sustainable environmental management. It emphasizes youth and women empowerment, digital transformation, and partnerships with the private sector and development partners. To operationalize this vision, implementation is structured through 10-year implementation plans, starting with MIP-1 (2021–2030), and monitored through performance-based accountability mechanisms.
